Piscataqua River Basin

DREW (Drewe), WILLIAM. He was born in Devon, England, about 1627. Early NH Census, Dover, shows him at Isles of Shoals from 1648-1669 where he was fisherman keeping his family at Oyster River. His log house, “fortified against the indians” was built by Thomas Beard in 1648. He married Elizabeth Matthews, daughter of Francis, who married 2nd 20 July 1671 William Follett.

Home site: On the south shore of Oyster River between lands of Matthew Giles on the East and Thomas Stevenson on the west. House burned 1694. Traces of garrison cellar hole and of surrounding orchard could be seen on Drew's Point 1913.
